HOW JACK FOUND HIS VOICE AFTER 56 YEARS
The needs of individuals enrolled in our Disability Services program are ever changing, and here at Inspiritus we are constantly evaluating ways to offer them the support they need today.
Disability Services enrollees are provided a caring and supportive home within the residence of a compassionate, well-trained Support Companion. Inspiritus Support Companions and staff collaborate with state and regional agencies to provide a coordinated plan of care and support. Our Disability Services program matches enrollees with a host home that best suits their specific needs. However, over time those needs may change, and a new environment may be required to better empower that individual.
Jack has been enrolled in our program for years and has been non-verbal. Recently our team identified an opportunity that would empower him to make further progress on his path towards thriving.
In early November, we helped Jack move into a new host home setting. With the support and care he experienced in this new environment, Jack began to speak!
Jack was empowered to have his voice! This was possible in part because of the compassionate efforts of his support companions, Inspiritus staff, and the Inspiritus Nursing & Clinical Services.
For the first time in 56 years of documented services in his life, Jack began, and continues, to communicate with those around him.
We rejoice with him!
