Our Disability Services program offers residential support to individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities. Support is provided in a Host Home setting or through Community Living Support services.
A Host Home is a private home, whether owned or leased, where life-sharing, residential support is provided by a contracted host family. The home offers a family-oriented and person-centered residence with a compassionate, skilled provider who assists with the daily needs and goals of the individual placed in their home.
Community Living Supports are services offered to individuals residing in either their own home alone, or with up to two housemates, or in a home with their family members. A Disability Services Direct Support Professional (DSP) visits the home to provide services outlined in the individual’s service plan. These supports assist the individual with maintaining their level of independence and may include personal grooming and healthcare, light housekeeping, leisure activities, shopping, and transportation to appointments or community outings.
Locations
Host Home services are offered in Alabama and Georgia in the following areas:
Alabama counties: Elmore, Montgomery, Houston, Mobile, Baldwin, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Jefferson, Morgan, Limestone, and Madison
Georgia: Statewide
Community Living Supports are offered only in Georgia.
Inspiritus works in partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities (DBHDD) and the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) to provide services.
Providing Supportive Homes
Our Disability Services program matches prospective individuals with a Host Home Provider who suits their specific needs. Inspiritus trains and equips Host Home Providers to provide personalized care in a family home setting. Our team works closely with Support Coordinators and with local, regional, and state agencies to ensure a coordinated plan of care is developed and implemented for each individual receiving services.
Host Home Providers create an enriching and nurturing environment tailored to each individual in their care. Georgia homes can have up to two individuals, and Alabama homes can have up to three individuals, both allowing for the person-centered attention and care they deserve.
By establishing supportive homes, our Disability Services program empowers individuals to contribute to their communities and become more independent. They have the opportunity to achieve goals, receive assistance and supports, and lead meaningful rich lives, ultimately allowing them to thrive.
How You Can Help
The individuals we accompany in our Disability Services program rely on the generous support of people like you. You can support those in need by becoming a Host Home Provider or a Direct Support Professional.
There are other opportunities to serve and support the individuals in this program, including hosting a fundraising event, engaging in your community, or volunteering.
