History and DNA of Inspiritus
Inspiritus’ history of community service goes back over 100 years. It was formally founded in 1982 by two national Lutheran church bodies. Those roots still ground and nourish Inspiritus in the strong legacy of social service and care for one’s neighbors. Today Inspiritus continues to be the social ministry partner of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and enjoys support from and partnership with congregations from many denominations and faith traditions in carrying out our vision and mission.
Inspiritus provides culturally appropriate, life-giving supports and services, delivered in a trauma informed manner by skilled, compassionate and experienced professionals to individuals and families who find themselves on the continuum between surviving and thriving.
Inspiritus, while related to the church, is not a church, and therefore does not proselytize, does not require staff, volunteers, clients or partners to subscribe to a certain belief system, nor does it provide worship services or religious studies. Inspiritus invites and welcomes all to participate in our mission and vision.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
John 13:34-35
