John has more than 25 years experience in ministry on nonprofit leadership. Before joining Inspiritus in February 2017, he served as the CEO at Action Ministries in Atlanta. John is ordained as a minister in the United Methodist Church.
Robert Herrera, MBA, MSA
Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO)
Robert joined Inspiritus in June 2017. In his role, he provides oversight and leadership in the functional areas of Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Audits, Grants Management, Risk Management, Information Technology and Human Resources. He has more than 23 years in the Non-Profit/Government financial industry.
Melissa Austin, LPC, DDP
VP of Programs
Melissa has her Master’s degree in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and has been licensed since 1995. For more than 20 years, she has worked in home- and community-based services in the nonprofit sector, including direct service, program development, compliance, administration and provider network development. Melissa has been with Inspiritus since 2012.

Theresa Jones
Director of Finance and Accounting
Theresa has been with the agency since May of 2000. She has a B.S. in Business Management from Troy University.
Michelle Angalet
Regional Director - Atlanta Metro
Michelle joined Inspiritus in January 2019 after five years of serving on its Board of Directors. As a deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for the last 12 years, she has held both congregational and judicatory leadership roles. Michelle brings her passion for accompanying and serving the neighbor and her relationships with local faith communities to the Inspiritus mission of guiding individuals and families on a path from surviving to thriving.
Janet Arning
Regional Director - Middle Tennessee
Janet joins the Inspiritus team with 29 years of experience in nonprofit program development and management in Nashville, TN. She earned her B.S. at Middle Tennessee State University.
Tracie Ball, MA
Regional Director - North Region
Tracie earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from Shorter College. She has more than 25 years’ experience in outpatient/inpatient mental health and child welfare.
Angel Sorochak, MA
Regional Director - Coastal Region
Angel received of Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling from the University of West Georgia. She has more than 10 years experience in nonprofit leadership and has worked extensively in the areas of development and program implementation.
Emily Laney, LMSW
Director of Performance Improvement and Compliance
Emily Laney has worked at Inspiritus since 2013. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker for the State of Georgia and is a Kennesaw State University Alumnus. In addition to her work with refugees, Emily has worked in anti-trafficking awareness and in higher education, and has spent extensive time working with internally displaced persons and refugees in the developing world.
Jennifer Williams, MPA
Regional Director - Southwest Georgia
Jennifer earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Government Contracting from Troy University. She brings 26 years of leadership and program development experience and is passionate about implementing systems change programs that positively impact the lives of vulnerable populations.
Melanie Johnson
Director of Community Engagement
Melanie has more than 25 years of experience in creating a vision for volunteerism and implementing community engagement strategies and programs for congregations and nonprofit organizations. She has a Masters in Theology and is a rostered Minister of Word and Service in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Through her work with Inspiritus, Melanie lives out her vocation as a deacon to serve at the intersection of the church and world - seeking wholeness in the world and equipping others for acts of compassion, healing and justice.
